A TikTok creator from Indiana is being sued by a Houston-based law firm over comments that she allegedly made about the firm online, according to Law360.

Meneses Law’s defamation lawsuit, filed Tuesday, against Indiana resident Camila Overmyer said she made false statements about the firm in TikTok posts and during livestreams starting in October.

The firm said it was flooded with calls from clients about Overmyer’s statements, and that it was losing at least 10 clients because of them, Law360 reported. It also claims that Overmyer said during livestreams that she received commissions from other attorneys for referring clients to them.

Overmyer, though, claims that the comments were rhetorical condemnation based on federal suits in which the firm is a defendant. The suits include a federal complaint filed in Colorado that accuses Meneses Law of filing fabricated declarations under the Violence Against Women Act to obtain immigration benefits for clients and a trade secrets misappropriation suit brought by a rival immigration firm (which has since settled), Law360 reported.
