Several members of the Hells Angels Motorcycle Club and their supporters were indicted by a San Diego County Grand Jury on Monday for hate crimes after attacking three Black men in a California neighborhood, Vanessa Arredondo reports for USA Today.
The three young victims, aged 19-21, were viciously beaten, and one of them stabbed, on June 6 in what prosecutors say was a racially motivated attack. They allege that during the attack the victims were repeatedly called a racial slur and told that they didn’t belong in the San Diego neighborhood of Ocean Beach. A total of 17 people were indicted in the attack and all entered pleas of not guilty after being arraigned on a variety of charges that carry possible sentences ranging from three years to life in prison. Police officials said they also seized 42 illegal firearms and illicit drugs. The victims survived their injuries.
