New York Governor Kathy Hochul has announced over $51 million in grants intended to enhance safety and security at nonprofit organizations facing hate crimes in the state. The governor also signed legislation to strengthen reporting of hate crimes on college campuses. The announcement was made at the Museum of Jewish Heritage in New York City. In 2022, there was a 20 percent increase in reported hate crimes, with 947 incidents recorded by law enforcement.
