After the 154 JD students graduating from the Indiana University Maurer School of Law in Bloomington, Indiana, walk the commencement in May, each will $10,000, thanks to a $1.6 million gift, the university has announced.
The funds were given by anonymous donors who aim “to pay it forward” by financially by helping recent grads preparing for the bar exam.
“This gift was made possible by donors deeply committed to our students’ success and to advancing the mission of the IU Maurer School of Law,” said Christiana Ochoa, the law school’s dean, in the March 31 announcement. “Their support is intended to give our 2026 graduates an early advantage by helping reduce the burden of educational debt.”
