A North Carolina federal jury on Monday awarded $5,000 to a woman who alleged that her Uber driver sexually assaulted her.

The verdict is the result of the second trial in the sexual assault multidistrict litigation against Uber.

The verdict, which followed a trial in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of North Carolina, is a striking contrast from an Arizona jury’s $8.5 million award Feb. 5 against Uber.

The plaintiff, Brianna Mensing, alleged that in 2019, her Uber driver put his hand on her thigh and asked whether he “could keep it with him” before she escaped through the passenger side door.

Uber previously noted that the alleged incident was never reported to the company or law enforcement and came up only when the lawsuit was filed, according to an article by Law.com.
