The CFTC filed to voluntarily dismiss its appeal of a federal court ruling that allowed registered derivatives trading platform KalshiEX, LLC to list for trading certain binary options contracts on US election outcomes. In an unrelated matter, a New Jersey district court granted Kalshi’s request for a temporary injunction, based on CFTC preemption of state law, against the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement, which had demanded Kalshi cease and desist the offering of any sports wagering to New Jersey residents.
