Do you have to be a member of the bar in good standing to practice law in the House of Representatives? Asking for Rudy Giuliani, who is not currently licensed to practice law, but nonetheless volunteer to conduct the impeachment inquiry into President Biden announced by Speaker Kevin McCarthy.

Yesterday on Steve Bannon’s War Room podcast, Donald Trump’s erstwhile pro bono attorney said he’s the right man for the job.
“I’m prepared to do the questioning if they got the guts for it. I mean, they’re wonderful guys, but I mean, this was my profession, not theirs. I know how to question a lot better than they do,” he vamped.
This might come as a surprise to those of us who listened to his last courtroom appearance in 2020 on behalf of the Trump campaign, during which he asked a federal judge to apply the “normal scrutiny” standard to his request to disenfranchise 6.8 million voters. Dismissing the case, Judge Matthew Brann described Giuliani’s output as “strained legal arguments without merit and speculative accusations, unpled in the operative complaint and unsupported by evidence.”
On the other hand, Giuliani has greater familiarity with the impeachment allegations than he did with the bogus claims of election fraud, since he’s been flogging them for five years now. In fact, the lies Reps. Comer and Jordan are flogging about Vice President Biden extorting the Ukrainian government to benefit his son’s business interests are recycled wholesale from 2019 when Giuliani dreamed them up.
“This is, without exaggeration, a 40 or 50 witness case,” he nattered on, before immediately contradicting himself. “This case could be proved without witnesses, just with the hard drive and electronics. You could do it with videos, you could do it with text, you could do with emails.”
“This is what I do the best,” he boasted, while scoffing that the case against Biden “could be won by a moderately talented prosecutor.”
Sure, he just bungled discovery so egregiously that he defaulted in the defamation case brought by Georgia poll workers Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss. And there’s the minor matter that he’s currently facing RICO charges and is named as an unindicted co-conspirator in a pending federal indictment. But who better than the guy who steered the last president into not one but two impeachments to conduct the next one, right?
