The top lawyer at the Goldman Sachs Group Inc., who has been linked to disgraced multimillionaire financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, secured a $25 million pay package and new security perks in 2025 before she announced her upcoming resignation in June.
Kathy Ruemmler’s annual compensation increased 11% from the $22.5 million that she received in 2024, according to a company filing Friday, Bloomberg Law reports.
Ruemmler announced in February that she plans to step down as Goldman’s chief legal officer and general counsel. Her name appeared thousands of times in records released by the Department of Justice about Epstein, according to Bloomberg Law. Epstein was facing federal sex trafficking charges but died by apparent suicide in jail in 2019.
Ruemmler accepted tens of thousands of dollars in gifts from Epstein, whom she called “Uncle Jeffrey” and “sweetie,” the documents released by the DOJ revealed.
A Goldman spokesperson said Ruemmler interacted with Epstein in a “professional capacity,” according to Bloomberg Law.
