The ABA Section of Legal Education and Admissions to the Bar has announced its nominations for the 2026-2027 council leadership positions.

The ABA Section of Legal Education and Admissions to the Bar has announced its nominations for the 2026-2027 council leadership positions.

Melissa Hart is slated to serve as the next chair of the council of the Section of Legal Education and Admissions to the Bar, according to an April announcement from the nominating committee. It is a one-year term.

Hart, a retired justice on the Colorado Supreme Court and an adjunct professor at the University of Colorado Law School and the University of Denver’s Sturm College of Law, replaces Daniel Thies, a shareholder at Webber & Thies who also has served as chair of the council’s Standards Committee.

Carla Pratt, currently the vice-chair, is slated as the chair-elect, a one-year term. A professor at the University of Oklahoma College of Law, Pratt previously was the chair of the Standards Committee.

Thomas Galligan Jr., the president emeritus and a law professor at the Louisiana State University Paul M. Hebert Law Center, is slated as the vice-chair.

The slate for members-at-large to three-year terms include Wilson G. Bradshaw, the president emeritus of the Florida Gulf Coast University, and David A. Brennen, a professor and a former dean of the University of Kentucky College of Law.

Dayanna Parra-Woodall, a student at the American University Washington College of Law, is slated as the law student division member, a one-year term.

The slate will be presented during the 2026 ABA Annual Conference in Chicago on Aug. 1, according to the announcement.
