In Thaler v. Perlmutter, the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit affirmed the US Copyright Office’s denial of a copyright registration for an AI-created artwork lacking a human author, holding that the Copyright Act requires human authorship for a work to be eligible for copyright registration.
