Partners at Ashurst and Perkins Coie have approved the creation of Ashurst Perkins Coie, a trans-Atlantic law firm with around 3,000 lawyers in more than 50 offices.
The firms announced Monday that their partners “voted overwhelmingly” in favor of the proposed combination, which is expected to close in the third quarter of this year. Ashurst Perkins Coie is expected to be a globally integrated firm with combined revenues of $2.8 billion and “flagship hubs” in Seattle, London, Sydney and New York.
“Ashurst Perkins Coie will be defined by its strength in the technology, energy and infrastructure, and financial services sectors—industries at the center of global economic transformation—alongside market-leading practices in complex transactions and litigation,” the firms said in their announcement.
Ashurst and Perkins Coie announced their plans for a merger in November. According to Law.com, which also has coverage, the new firm will be among the top 20 global firms when assessed against Law.com’s 2025 Global 200 rankings.
Perkins Coie will offer Ashurst its technology client base, which includes Boeing and Amazon, Law.com reports. Meanwhile, Ashurst will provide Perkins Coie access to international clients across Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
“Our partnership’s approval reflects a shared belief that combining to form Ashurst Perkins Coie will create a truly differentiated global legal platform—one with the scale, sector depth and technological leadership to meet our clients’ increasingly complex, cross-border needs,” said Bill Malley, Perkins Coie’s managing partner, who will be the global co-CEO of the firm, in the announcement.
“Our complementary expertise across sectors and practice areas, together with our shared commitment to innovation, will deliver greater scale and global reach for our clients while creating a compelling platform for top legal talent,” Paul Jenkins, the CEO of Ashurst, who will be the other global co-CEO, also said.
